AFTER reading in Daily Sun that gogo Notyityi Tasana didn’t celebrate her 100th birthday on 18 January, Ntsikelelo Sam decided to show her some love.
Ntsikelelo Sam (19) from Gugulethu in Cape Town baked a cake for the gogo and took it to her on Saturday, 5 February, which touched her heart.
When she received the cake, the gogo started crying tears of joy.
Her family then decided to prepare a big lunch to celebrate her birthday.
Gogo Notyityi prayed for Ntsikelelo and wished him a long life and success in his baking business.
The gogo’s daughter, Nozolile Ngesi (60), said she was overjoyed to celebrate her mum’s long life.
“It’s not everyone who has their mother for such a long time.
“Some lose their mothers when they are still young.
“I have grandchildren and my mother is still with me, which is a blessing,” she said.
Ntsikelelo said when he heard about the gogo’s 100th birthday, he wanted to do something for her.
“I was raised by my gogo, who is now 73. I was excited to make a cake for the gogo and it meant a lot to me.
“I hope my gogo will also make it to a century,” he said.
Ntsikelelo said he was moved by the gogo’s prayer and it left him very emotional.
