Sipho Ndlovu (31) went missing after he and his friends allegedly tried to hijack a businessman in Vanderbijlpark.

AN ATTEMPTED car hijacking took an unexpected turn for suspected car thieves in Sebokeng, near Vanderbijlpark in the Vaal.

Collen Zwane told Daily Sun that life is not the same for the Ndlovu family.

This after his younger brother Sipho Ndlovu from Lawley, vanished into thin air after he allegedly tried to hijack a businessman's car in Sebokeng on Thursday, 13 July.

Collen claimed that Sipho is a troublesome person and is always in trouble. He said his brother disappeared after he and his friends allegedly tried to hijack a businessman at gunpoint in Sebokeng.

The businessman allegedly fought back and grabbed Sipho.

"Sipho and his friends tried to hijack the businessman in his shop and when things went south, his friends left him behind. When the businessman got hold of Sipho and overpowered him, his two friends ran for their lives.

"One escaped in the businessman's vehicle, the other friend used the getaway car to escape, leaving Sipho at the scene," Collen said.

Sipho was left alone at the scene while the businessman and the community allegedly attacked him.

"The businessman took Sipho afterwards and said he was taking him to the police station, and unfortunately they didn't get there," Colle said.

The family told Daily Sun that they are worried whether their loved one is safe wherever he is.

"We just want closure and to know if he's still alive or not. The uncertainty of whether he's alive or not really worries us as a family," Collen said.

The family is asking for assistance in the search for their son.

Another family member said Sipho's disappearance has really broken them, and they want him back, dead or alive.

Police spokesman Mavela Masondo said that a case of kidnapping has been opened at Sebokeng Police Station and the suspect was arrested.

"He is expected to appear in the Sebokeng Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 25 July," Masondo said.
