CONVICTED rapist and murderer Thabo Bester appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Friday, 14 April, where he reserved his right to apply for bail.
Dubbed the "Facebook Rapist", Bester told the court through his legal representative that he hadn't eaten in 48 hours.
Bester's lawyer, Marvin Carpede, said his client was scared he would be poisoned at the Mangaung Prison.
He also didn't agree with the identity document in the court documents.
The court instructed Bester to consult with the Department of Correctional Services and Home Affairs for food safety and identity, respectively.
The state said that Bester wouldn't be granted special treatment.
Through his lawyer, Bester submitted that the court grants his request for food to be provided to him by his legal team.
Bester and his girlfriend, Dr Nandipha Magudumana, were arrested in Tanzania and deported back to South Africa.
Magudumana already made her appearance in court on Thursday, 13 April.
Allegations surfaced that Dr Nandipha acquired three bodies from a state mortuary in the Free State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the bodies were acquired to aid Bester in escaping from the correctional facility.

It's alleged that one of the bodies was found dumped in the river with an identification tag.
The Free State provincial health department spokesman, Mondli Mvambi could not comment and said police were busy with their investigations.
Bester's prison escape has resulted in the arrest of Dr Nandipha's father, Zolile Sekeleni, former G4S official Senohe Matsoara and Tebogo Dipholo, an employee contracted to a company that installs and maintains cameras at the Mangaung Prison.
Bester reserved his right to apply for bail.
His matter was postponed to May 16.
