SHE wanted help from a traditional healer as she did not feel well but instead, she allegedly lost all her money.

The 47-year-old mother of two from Mamelodi, east of Tshwane, said she had lost R183 400 since November.

She said she had been saving money for her daughter (19), who is in first year.

She started to visit the sangoma, who called himself Dr Juma, in November.

The woman said whenever she was in the sangoma’s indumba, she heard the voice of a gogo and believed that her problems will end.

But she now realises it was fake.

“I have been ill since January last year and have been losing weight and my appetite. My friend referred me to this evil traditional healer who didn’t help me but stole my money,” she said.

She said the traditional healer asked her to bring soil from her home and dirty water she had bathed in.

He then mixed the soil and water and boiled the mixture.

“He took my R10 note and wrapped it with a red ribbon. He told me I have a special gift for money. He told me someone was bewitching me because they were jealous of me and wanted to see me suffer,” she said.

She said in December, the traditional healer told her to bring R80 000 because she was cursed.

“He told me my ancestors demanded the R80 000 and he will take it to them at a mountain in Rustenburg.

“He even told me to withdraw all my money and the one I have at home because it’s all cursed,” she said.

The woman gave the healer all her savings so he can cleanse it, but she’s still waiting for her money.

Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said: “The woman should report the matter to the Small Claims Court.”
