Although late Kwaito star Thula ‘Senyaka’ Kekana has been gone for over three years, he is not forgotten.

The star who passed away in 2015, will be celebrated on stage through a musical tribute titled A Night of Kwaito with Moruti wa Tsotsi's Friends to be held at the Joburg Theatre on 31 August.

His buddy, Spikiri, together with fellow stars Kamazu, Mzekezeke, and Jairus featuring the talented Lerato Mvelase, will help bring this tribute to life.

Mvelase, who was looking forward to playing the role of Senyaka on what was initially supposed to be a play, will now be presenting this musical tribute.

The ultimate goal is to ensure that Senyaka’s memory continues to live on.

Senyaka was one of the most talented and versatile entertainers and fittingly, his classics will roll back the years at the musical tribute.

Songs like Go Away, African Rap, Romeo, Go Away, Thembalami and the multi award winning Chesa Mpama will take the audience on a delightful trip down memory lane.

The line-up of performers will also include the likes of DJ Walker, DJ Beat Mochini, J Ross, DJ Sue and Tloks Lepara, all of whom were the late Senyaka’s brothers, associates, friends and collaborators.

The evening will be filled with laughter and tears, said Executive Producer Themba "Fizzy" Sithole, “It will illustrate the talented and complex man he was.

“He was a creative man who saw an opportunity out of any circumstances that one experienced in life.

“He touched everyone who knew him, he was an honest person who provided good advice and great guidance."
