Kwaito star Bricks says the time he spent in prison did not only turn him into a better person but also a much better artist.

The star was sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a relative.

However, he was released earlier this year on R80 000 bail, he is currently in the process of appealing the conviction.

One of the positives from his stay in prison was the amount of time he had to improve himself as a person and his craft, music.

“You get time to sit down and look at your craft,” he told TimesLIVE, “You get time to look at the things that matter most in your life.

“I think musically, I am untouchable now.”

Bricks recently performed at the Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards on Friday and many people were left angry by his booking for the performance.

His reputation has no doubt been damaged by the case but he insists he only cares about the music.

"There is nothing I can do about what people say about me,” he told the publication, “I cannot stop people from speaking about me, all I can do is make music.

“I just want to make music," he added.
