Close friends of late Gospel star Lundi Tyamara are tired of seeing their friend’s final resting place in ruins.
Lundi died on the 27th January 2017 at Edenvale Hospital following a battle with TB.
According to his friends, the star’s tombstone was vandalised shortly after his burial.
They have decided to take action by uniting to raise funds in order to fix the tombstone and honour his memory.
Speaking to the Sowetan, gospel star and one of Lundi’s close friends Thabiso Moloi said the family has been struggling to raise enough money to fix the tombstone.
"What is funny is that the fencing around it is still standing. Which means someone scaled the fence just to break the head of the tombstone," he told the publication.
Moloi added that they would raise the money by hosting a gala event on the 16th of December that will see more of Lundi’s friends and artists performing in his honour to raise the money they need to fix the damaged tombstone.
"As people who lived and worked with Lundi, we feel it is important to assist the family. We chose December 16 because it's his birthday. Gospel artists have responded to this cause because they see a need," he said.
