KWAITO’S bad boy Tokollo Tshabalala has survived yet another court scare.

On Tuesday, the Hitman hitmaker walked out of the Randburg Magistrate’s Court a free man.

“Magesh” as the singer is popularly known, was found not guilty of assaulting his former TKZee band member Zwai Bala.

His acquittal brought him a sigh of relief after several unsuccessful bids to have the case thrown out of court.

Immediately after his acquittal, Magesh and Zwai shook hands outside the court and interacted for the first time ever since the case started in February.

Zwai had told the court earlier that Magesh assaulted him with a sharp object after an argument about travelling in South Africa. But Magesh denied beating Zwai up and claimed that Zwai had hit the wall.

In 2010, Magesh escaped being prosecuted for petrol theft after he allegedly fled from a service station without paying for a full tank of fuel.

Magesh allegedly filled up his car with R600 worth of petrol in September 2010, and gave the pump attendant his card – but the transaction was declined.

Magesh then allegedly took his card and drove off.

On Tuesday, he went back to the garage and offered to settle the bill. The garage owner then withdrew the charges.

In 2001, Magesh escaped a prison term in Botswana after he was acquitted of reckless and negligent driving after he was involved in a car accident in which Botswana businesswoman Maria Monyatsi died.

Magesh’s BMW convertible collided head-on with Monyatsi’s Ford Laser sedan while he was running away from the cops who wanted to question him about a missing number plate near Ledumadumane in Mogoditshane.

In 2006, Magesh was arrested together with Zwai and Kabelo Mabalane for tax evasion. Zwai said he was okay with the court’s ruling: “I took the matter to court for the judge to make a ruling. And the court made the ruling with which I’m okay.”

Asked if he has forgiven Magesh and whether he will ever work with him again, he said: “I don’t know what the future holds for us but as far as working together is concerned, we haven’t worked together in a long time.”

Magesh was not available for comment.
