THE uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party is on a winning spree.

The party, backed by former president Jacob Zuma, won another court battle in the Durban High Court on Monday, 22 April.

The ANC took its logo dispute with the MK party to court and lost.

The governing party argued that MK should change its name and logo. It said voters would be confused if MK continued using the logo and the name uMkhonto Wesizwe.

Immediately after the judgment, MK members got excited inside the court and sang.

Speaking outside court, MK party founder Jabulani Khumalo said the party was happy about the outcome.

"We were expecting this. We don't know why the judge kept it this long because they knew we've already won. From here, we're going to the ground to mobilise people so that we get the two-thirds majority," Khumalo told the crowd.

Zuma's daughter, Duduzile Zuma said: "MK is here to stay."

Meanwhile, unlike before, ANC supporters and its leadership were nowhere to be seen.

Provincial spokesman Mafika Mndebele arrived after the judgment.

He said the ANC respects the court's decision but would appeal the judgment.

"We have a right to defend what's ours. It's not about winning or losing. It's a matter of principle. Jacob Zuma, in this matter, appears as a scammer by taking the MK name," Mndebele said.
