A 60-YEAR-OLD madala, believed to be the ringleader of a cattle theft, was arrested after police were led to his location by a suspect.
The madala was arrested on Thursday, 29 June, at Botlokwa outside Polokwane in Limpopo.
The madala, who is believed to be the ringleader in connection with numerous thefts in Vhembe district, was arrested by members of the Makhado Crime Intelligence Unit and the Stock Theft Unit.
The arrest came after police received a complaint about seven stolen cattle seen in a Toyota bakkie with trailer accompanied by an unknown vehicle at Ha-Rathidili Village in Tshilwavhusiku outside Makhado.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said cops responded quickly and attempted to stop the vehicles. The unknown vehicle managed to escape, but the Toyota bakkie was cornered and a male suspect was arrested on the spot.
"Subsequently, the suspect, whose age is yet to be determined, agreed to lead police to the whereabouts of the ringleader, living at Botlokwa, leading to an intelligence operation conducted jointly with the Makhado Stock Theft Unit," he said.
Ledwaba said the 60-year-old madala was found and arrested successively in Vuka Section in Mokomene Village, Botlokwa.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Morebeng Magistrates Court soon to face charges of possession of suspected stolen cattle.
The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, praised the cooperation between the parties involved that led to the arrest.
