STREET vendors at a taxi rank in Dunswart, Ekurhuleni said taxi associations are turning the rank into their own property. 

They claimed they're forced to pay R20 "everyday tax" by some officials from Benoni Taxi Association (BTA).

They said if they refuse to pay, they're either sjamboked or kicked out. But the vendors said they don’t know what the money is for, which they started paying in August 2023.
