RESIDENTS say service delivery in Ekurhuleni is non-existent.
They claimed that the municipality can't afford the paint to mark the speed humps on the roads.
Residents said that these invisible speed humps damage their cars, especially at night.
Some residents got together and donated money to buy white paint to mark the speed humps.
Gogo Emma Mthethwa said: "We're tired of waiting for something we can't see or may not get. I don't have a car, but just for the fact that I can't sleep peacefully at night, I'm grateful to the people who painted the speed humps.
"The noise is disturbing, especially when you're sleeping. As soon as you hear the squealing, your good night's sleep is over."
Motorist Jones Netshitunde told Daily Sun that his car was damaged by the invisible speed humps because it was dark.
"You can't even see them during the day because they look just like the road," he said.
Residents believe this will prompt others to do the same.

"The colour might fade after a while, but it makes a huge difference. It's better than nothing.
Resident Ntombi Magagula said he's happy with the work and can now sleep peacefully.
Zweli Dlamini, spokesman for Ekurhuleni Municipality, said it was wrong for residents to mark the speed humps and they should report them to the customer service centre in the area.
"Ekurhuleni Municipality is in the process of marking the roads and we will also reach Etwatwa."
But the residents don't seem to agree with Dlamini.
"We've been waiting forever for their empty promises. We're the ones whose cars are being damaged, not them. Let's be realistic," said an angry resident.
