Cops need help to find Detective Sergeant Dumisani Solomon Mtshali, who is missing.

A CRYSTAL Park cop in Ekurhuleni went missing on 24 September while on his way to see his family.

But he never reached his destination.

His burnt-out car was found in Kliprivier on Wednesday, 27 September with a burnt body in the back seat.

It's not known at this stage whether it's him or not.

Captain Nelda Sekgobela said his family was taken for DNA tests, and the police are still waiting for the results.

She said the search continues for the missing cop.

"The body was found in his car, a white BMW hatch one series with registration number XSD 19 SCM," said Sekgobela.

She said the search for Detective Sergeant Dumisani Solomon Mtshali started after he didn't answer his phone on the day he was supposed to go for training.

Sekgobela said the cop was scheduled to attend a detective's course at a police academy in Hammanskraal last week.

"His colleagues went to his house in Crystal Park to collect him to go to Hammanskraal but became worried when he didn't answer his phone and was not home.

"He was not the type of person who would just disappear and switch off without notice," said Sekgobela.

"His colleagues decided to search his apartment, where they found his neatly packed bag containing Mtshali’s clothing and police uniform on his bed."
