A SUSPECT is under police guard at the hospital.
This comes after he sustained injuries when he and his friends were allegedly involved in a shoot-out with the police.
The incident happened in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni on Tuesday, 14 November.
The four suspects attempted to hijack a silver-grey Toyota Quantum with a Mozambican registration number. The driver informed the police that they had just escaped being hijacked.
According to police spokeswoman Captain Neldah Sekgobela, cops were on their normal patrol along Santonga Road when they were stopped by a cross-border taxi driver, who was driving a silver-grey Quantum with Mozambican registration.

"When the police received this information, they followed up on the tip-off and realised that the description of the vehicle matched the victims' accounts. The police tried to stop the vehicle driven by the suspects, but it just sped off and a chase ensued," Sekgobela said.
Sekgobela said when the suspects realised that the police were on their tail, they started shooting in the direction of the police, who then fired back until the suspects lost control of their vehicle and ran away on foot in different directions.
"Police continued to chase after them and were able to apprehend one suspect, who was in possession of an unauthorised firearm and six live rounds of ammunition, while the other three fled," she said.
