Witnesses said the two had an argument in the car, which was seen swerving from side to side.

Witnesses said the couple's fight started at a tavern in Duduza.

"We saw them leave the tavern, with the cop forcing her into the car and it sped off. We never thought it would end the way it did," said a witness.

Nompumelelo worked for Ekurhuleni Municipality.

Shocked residents took to social media to search for the families of the couple.

When Daily Sun visited Nompumelelo's family on Tuesday, 2 May, they refused to speak to the SunTeam.

Sergeant Themba Tshabalala of Springs police said a murder and inquest docket are being investigated.

He said that the Springs police will hold a memorial service on Thursday, 4 May to remember Dunga.
