A MOTORIST has been arrested for pointing a firearm at other motorists.

This after the man, who was driving a white Ford Ranger, caused havoc in Putfontein in Ekurhuleni on Saturday, 6 January.

According to Ekurhuleni Metro Police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, their members received information about the motorist who allegedly threatened motorists on the road.

"EMPD officers were on a crime prevention operation when they were approached by a few concerned motorists who witnessed a driver randomly pointing other motorists with a firearm.

"A description of the white Ford Ranger was given and officers, who were under the impression that it could be one of those dangerous road rage complaints, jumped into action," she said.

Thepa said while the officers were driving around the streets of Putfontein, they saw the vehicle with one occupant at an intersection of Putfontien and Vanryn Road.

"After the driver was instructed to stop, a thorough search was conducted and a black G19C 9mm was seized. The suspect was arrested and charged with pointing of a firearm," said Thepa

She said the suspect was detained at Crystal Park Police Station.

Thepa appealed to motorists who were allegedly pointed with the firearm to report the matter to Crystal Park cop shop.
