AN unknown man dumped guns at the Graceland dumping site in Ekurhuleni.
According to Metro police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, their members received a tip-off from a concerned resident on Monday, 27 November, who saw a man dumping suspicious items at the dumping side.
She said their members from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU), Community Liaison Unit (CLU), Tactical Team, Warrior Arms Security, and National Crime Intelligence Unit Officers were conducting a clean-up operation at the Graceland area.
"While on patrol, officers were stopped by a member of the community, who alleged that earlier on, he noticed an unknown and very nervous person dumping a suspicious package at the Graceland dumping site, before he took off," said Thepa.

She said when their members went to investigate, they found two rusted firearms.
"One of which was a Rossi hunting rifle, and the other, a 12A gauge Pump Action shotgun with intact serial numbers, were uncovered."
"The recovered firearms were carefully sealed and taken to the Elsburg Police Station where they were thoroughly scrutinised," said Thepa.
She said the two rifles tested positive for being used in the commission of criminal activities, with registered case numbers.
Thepa told Daily Sun on Monday, 4 December, that police were investigating, and no one has been arrested yet.
