BONGANI Shinguba is a street vendor and entrepreneur with class.

Bongani (39) from Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni is always seen wearing pastor’s clothes while selling snacks, pest control products, and ice at the malls.

He said while he is selling the product he also shares bible verses and motivates his customers.

“I once had a dream from God telling me to preach the gospel of Jesus on the streets.

“So whenever I wear the roman collar shirt and sell on the streets, customers will come and buy and also share their problems,” he said.

He said he tells them to be strong and pray.

“Some customers, both men and women would tell me they have families, marriage problems and they want to quit at work. Immediately I would hear a spiritual voice tell me what I should say to the customers,” said Bongani.

He said people are hurt out there and they need people to talk and share their problems with.

“I always give them hope and tell them not to give up on their lives. It fulfilled me to see while I’m selling at the mall I also change the lives of other people,” said.

Bongani said his wish to is study theology and qualify as a pastor.

He also encourages youth to open their own businesses.

“We cannot rely on the government for everything. With the R350 people get monthly from the government they can buy stock and sell products. God has given everything mind, eyes, and legs, so everyone can turn their lives around,” said Bongani.

He said he started his business with R20 and he sell a take-five ice on the street.

“I made a profit and managed to get more stock, so every day  I made R350. My wish is to add more products and become a general dealer on the street and even sell airtime. I believe through God’s will, all will be possible,” said Bongani.

Thapelo Nkomo (41) from Mavimbela Section in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni said Bongani is a street-wise hustler.

"I asked him why he was wearing a roman collar shirt and he said he has faith in God. He even tells me to read the bible, because God told him to preach the word of God while," he said.

Another resident Sibongile Mabena (47) from Zonke Izizwe in Ekurhuleni said people should learn not to judge others.

"I used to see Bongani selling his products and wearing a Roman collar shirt. I spoke to him and he motivated me and quoted verses from the bible, I was speechless, he even told me he wanted to be a pastor," said Sibongile.
