Kidnapped man found dead!

ONE of the four friends who were kidnapped and taken to different dams to be drowned has been found dead. 

Nhlakanipho Ngwenya (31) was kidnapped on 1 July for alleggedly stealing four laptops and a cellphone with his three friends.

One friend escaped from the boot of a car, while the other was saved from drowning at a dam by a motorist who stopped his car to pee. The fourth friend, Nathi, is still missing.

Nhlakanipho's gogo Belinah Kunene from KwaThema, Ekurhuleni said her grandson was found by security guards in Germiston.

"It looks like he ran to the guards asking for help and we are told he was naked and had wounds, indicating he had been assaulted," said gogo Belinah.

She said the guards told them they called the ambulance but it arrived late, and Nhlakanipho's body was taken to Germiston government mortuary.

Nhlakanipho's cousin, Lebo Ngwenya, said they found the body as they were searching at different mortuaries in Ekurhuleni. 

"We still want the people who assaulted him and pushed him in the river to drown to explain why they killed an innocent man," she said.

Survivor Sandile Nkosi said they were kidnapped on 1 July by men who accused them of stealing their laptops. 

"I was abducted and taken to a dam in Endicott in Springs to be drowned," said Sandile.

He said eight men assaulted them and left them for dead. 

Captain Nelda Sekgobela said two suspects have been arrested and appeared in court on Monday, and will make a second appearance on 24 July.

The suspects are charged with kidnapping and assault, and police are investigating missing persons case.
