A ZAMA zama tried to evade arrest when he was bust trying to bribe cops.
On Wednesday, 9 August, members of the Ekurhuleni district crime intelligence, Ekurhuleni district trio task team, Bad Boys security and Blue Hawk Tactical tactically operationalised information regarding illegal miners who were allegedly in possession of unlicensed firearms in Primrose.
Police spokeswoman Captain Neldah Sekgobela said cops approached the premises and found four males.
“One of the suspects was found with a 303 rifle with eight live ammunition on his lap.
“The suspect was arrested, and the other three were also arrested after 13 bags of gold-bearing soil were seized from their premises.
“The suspect busted with a firearm allegedly tried to bribe the police in exchange for his freedom. The police refused,” Sekgobela said.

In another incident, on Tuesday, 8 August, a 33-year-old member of the Security Company group was driving his company vehicle in Ivory Park extension 2 when he was approached at his gate of residence by two suspects who pointed a firearm at him in an attempt to hijack him.
“His cellphone was taken, and the company vehicle was shot at once.
“The security guard retaliated and shot both suspects. One suspect was certified dead, and the other one was taken to the hospital under police guard," she said.
Sekgobela said cops seized an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and a toy gun from the scene.
Ekurhuleni district commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole commended the members for their swift response and for not turning deaf ears to the information they received from the concerned community members to address the proliferation of unlicensed firearms in the district.
