POLICE celebrated Heritage Day by giving to disadvantaged pupils.
Ekurhuleni District police commissioner, General Annah Sithole, said police are humans too.
She said the police were touched when they heard about the plight of pupils at Kingsway Intermediate Primary.
Gauteng police came together to donate food to the school's feeding scheme.
General Sithole said they are also pledging to donate uniforms to disadvantaged pupils at that school.
"When we heard about the situation most kids at the school go through, we could not sit and fold our arms. We are here to serve our communities, and we want to tell you that before being police officers, we are mothers, sisters and aunts.
"We appeal to the police and open their hearts and wallets to help these children," she said.
