ANC members kicked off their Imvuselelo campaign at Reiger Park in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni.

Party leaders, including MP Hein April, ward 34 branch secretary Songezo Genu, branch deputy chairman of ward 34 Brown Serasengwe and volunteers were among the people who went door-to-door at Joe Slovo informal settlement in Reiger Park in Boksburg on Saturday, 2 December.

Genu said the campaign was aimed at visiting their members and encouraging them to renew their expired memberships.

"This is part of the initiative to revive the organisation and the community before next year's elections," Genu said.

April said the reason for the Imvuselelo campaign is part of the organisation's strategy to ensure that its members engage with the communities and understand what the people want.

"It's important that we engage our people and make them understand that we are busy re-engaging them in government decision making. Whatever the government decides on policy or government is decided by the wishes of the people in the group, so we are between our people to understand what they are saying, to listen to what they are saying and to make sure we are delivering the services," April said.

Serasengwe said they have received mixed reactions from their members, with some saying they won't vote while others will vote next year.

"Most of them say they're going to vote and give the ANC another chance to be in power. While others say they are fed up with the lack of service delivery and the problem of electricity is affecting them," he said.

He said all feedback from their members will be reported to the regional task team officials who will then implement strategies to address the challenges.
