AFTER Good Samaritan Matsorwane Sekgopo drilled a borehole at his Ga-Sekgopo Village home, providing free water to villagers, that wasn’t enough for everyone.

This is because the water tank that Matsorwane (51) installed at his Modjadjiskloof home in Limpopo was too small to cater for everyone.

This forced him to allow villagers to get water using a timetable to allow the borehole to fill the tank once it was empty.

Villagers would get water in the morning and the afternoon. This was in an attempt not to strain the borehole to the point that it gets damaged.

Realising how the villagers were struggling to fetch water at any time they needed, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Mopani district traditional convener, Mark Malola, decided to intervene.

On Monday, 20 November, Malola donated a 5 000-litre tank through his party so that villagers would be able to get water anytime without using a timetable.

He told Daily Sun that they needed to help the villagers.

“Water is an essential need, so we couldn’t sit back and watch our people struggle. As a leader of traditional leaders in the Mopani district, we saw it fit to deliver the tank,” he said.

Malola hoped that the tank would end all the villagers’ worries.

“We know that it's painful to go fetch water and then come back home empty-handed. This tank will end all that,” he said.

He also donated a cow to Matsorwane as a token of appreciation for the good work he's doing for villagers.

“Matsorwane has been doing lots of good work for the villagers and most of it from his own pocket. We decided to give him the cow as a way of thanking him. He is from a royal family, so you can’t just visit him empty-handed,” he said.

Matsorwane said he was thankful for the tank.

“Now villagers will get water as they wish and that's what I've always wanted. The tank will make sure that no one goes to bed thirsty, and we are giving praise because this is what we want,” he said.
