THE Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema says the ANC is confused.

He said Mzansi needs to get out of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Malema said this during a cleaning campaign held in Diepfloof Zone 2 in Soweto on Saturday, 29 April.

“I’ve never seen such a confused organisation that is controlled by white capital.

“The Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula, speaks from Luthuli House and says we are moving out of ICC, and the President speaks from Union Buildings we are moving out of ICC on the same day.

“Later in the evening, they come back and say there was a mistake committed, we are not leaving the ICC,” Malema said.

He questioned how President Cyril Ramaphosa and Mbalula committed the same mistake when they were in two separate places.

Malema said the white capital that controls the ANC reprimanded them immediately after they had spoken.

“What an international embarrassment because this was said in front of the visiting head of state.

“We need to get out of ICC because there is international inconsistency when it comes to the application of the rule of law by the ICC.

“We cannot have people who committed genocide and America not being signatory at the ICC, yet we must be a signatory,” he lamented.

He said it was clear that the ICC was created for anyone who disagrees with America.

“We cannot allow America to police us by the rules that itself cannot follow," he added.

Malema’s reaction comes after The Presidency retracted comments by Ramaphosa and Mbalula.

In a statement released on Tuesday, 25 April, Presidential spokesman Vincent Magwenya said South Africa would remain a signatory to the Rome Statute and continue to campaign for equal and consistent application of international law.

"This clarification follows an error in a comment made during a media briefing held by the governing African National Congress on South Africa's status with regard to the ICC. Regrettably, the President erroneously affirmed a similar position during a media session today (Tuesday)," the statement read.
