A REPORTEDLY fraudulent letter with what appears to be an EFF logo has been circulating on social media.
The letter suggests that it was written from ward 53 by angry EFF fighters.
The context of the letter alleges that the ward 53 chairman, Sonnyboy Mkhabela, is corrupt and has been terrorising residents and ordering assassination hits on some community members.
“This man is very evil and corrupt; we urge community members to distance themselves from him. Our people are warned against this man and avoid being poisoned; he is very evil. As members of the EFF, we are tired of being bullied,” the letter said.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Mkhabela said those are false allegations.

The ward 53 branch said they take these accusations seriously and are committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency and integrity in their campaign.
“The recent claims made against CH Sunboy Mkhabela, and the leadership of the branch are both unfounded and baseless. We want to assure the public that we operate with the utmost respect for ethical standards, and we remain dedicated to a fair and honest political process,” the branch said.
They said the letters are written by former EFF members who failed to run the branch during their tenure using EFF logos to spread formless information on rampage.
“The allegations in question are not only baseless but also lack any factual foundation. It's regrettable that our opponents have chosen to engage in mudslinging rather than focusing on the issues that truly matter to the constituents we all aim to serve,” they said.
The branch has since urged the public and the media to scrutinise these allegations with scepticism and to demand evidence before accepting them as truth.
