A SEXUAL predator has been arrested for child pornography.
The man (52) from East London, Eastern Cape was arrested on Tuesday, 5 March, for charges related to child pornography.
According to Eastern Cape police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the alleged sexual predator was bust for possessing, distributing, accessing, downloading, facilitating and watching child pornography as part of an ongoing operation to target online child sexual predators.
"During the operation, the man was allegedly found with hundreds of child pornography images on his devices by a forensic investigator and several equipment including cellphones, laptops and various storage devices were seized,” Naidu said.

She said the suspect is one of the 27 internet child sexual predators that were arrested in South Africa as part of a joint international operation.
According to Naidu, members of the Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (Seci) Head Office, Seci in the Eastern Cape, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations of the US Embassy conducted the takedown and arrest operation on 5 March 2024.
The accused appeared in the East London Magistrates Court on 7 March and is remanded in custody until 14 March 2024 for a formal bail application.
Eastern Cape police commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Lillian Mene welcomed the arrest.
Mene said: "The arrest of this sexual predator marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts to protect our community’s most vulnerable members from exploitation and abuse. Those who engage in such reprehensible activities will be held accountable to the full extent of the law."
