THE hunt is on for an alleged drug lord who escaped arrest on Friday, 4 March.
The suspect managed to escape during a drug bust at Thornhill Estate in Polokwane, Limpopo.
He fled the scene when he realised cops were approaching.
Heroin and crystal meth worth R4,2 million were found at his house.
A 24-year-old woman, believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend, was arrested.
Police then proceeded to another house and found a 50-year-old man in possession of drugs worth over R400 000. His car was also seized.
Acting Limpopo police commissioner, Major-General Jan Scheepers praised the investigating officers for acting on a tip-off received about drugs at the estate.
“We will continue to target drug dealers so that we can save the lives of the people of Limpopo,” he added.
The arrested suspects were due to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Monday, 7 March.
Vincent Kunutu of Seshego Community Against Crime and Gangsterism said: “Drugs are killing our society and more especially, young people with bright futures. We think tThis will send a strong message to other drug dealers that crime and drugs won’t be tolerated.”
