Dpt of higher education to de-register non-compliant institutions

accreditation

The department of higher education has on Friday, 19 August stated that it intends cancelling the registration of some higher education institutions.

The department published its intent decision on canceling the registration of City Varsity College, ICESA City Campus, Lyceum College and the famous Damelin College as a private higher education institution.

In a notice in the government gazette, the general director of the Higher Education and Training, Nkosinathi Sishi, said this is due to the institutions having failed to submit their audited annual financial statement for the 2020 year of reporting as required by sections. 57(2)(b) of the Act read with Regulation 27(1)(I)(I).

The Colleges Act on failing to submit the audited financial statements has resulted in the  Department of Higher Education and Training taking a drastic move to deregister them.
