THE siblings usually took turns to do the dishes.

And on Saturday, 26 February, it was the 21-year-old sister’s turn to wash them.

But little did they know this dishwashing was to end in death!

When the 21-year-old’s younger sibling (15) asked when she was going to get started, a fight allegedly broke out between them and the youngster was stabbed several times.

The older sister (27) tried to intervene and she was allegedly also stabbed. Sadly, the older sister died, while the young child is fighting for her life in hospital.

The middle sibling has since been arrested.

Their aunt (48) from Lower Crossroads in Cape Town said they are heartbroken and shocked by the incident.

She said the sister became angry and said she would wash the dishes later and no one should rush her.

“An argument ensued between them when the younger sibling said it was getting late and ordered her sister to do her duties.

“She got angry, took a knife and stabbed her younger sister several times in the chest and in the back,” alleged the aunt.

She said the older sister came rushing into the house when she heard screams.

“She tried to stop them, but she kept attacking the younger one, who was bleeding heavily from the stab wounds. When the older sister tried to stop the fight, she was also stabbed,” she claimed.

The fatal blow came when the older sister was allegedly stabbed under her left breast.

“The youngster is still fighting for her life in hospital. We are devastated because we never thought something like this would happen,” said the aunt, adding that the mum is in pain.

She said the older sister was the breadwinner and the family had no money to bury her.

“She was the only one who was working. She worked as cleaner and was taking care of her family and two-year-old boy. Who will do all these things now that she is no more? It sad that her son will be left without a mother,” she said.

The aunt said the middle sister was not troublesome.

“She passed matric last year and was searching for a school to pursue her studies. This has shocked everyone and we are left with so many questions,” she said.

A resident (29) said there was no way someone could do what the sister did.

“How can someone kill her sister because of dishes?” asked the resident.

Western Cape police spokesman, Colonel Andre Traut said a murder case was opened for investigation.

“According to reports, the deceased died due to a stab wound. The suspect appeared in the Wynberg Regional Court on Tuesday, 1 March,” he said.

She was not asked to plead and the matter was postponed to 10 March.
