THE 49-year-old KwaDukuza deputy mayor, Thulani Ntuli, collapsed to his death on Wednesday, 29 March.
Ntuli woke up like any other day, left his home and went to work not knowing that the unfortunate would happen.
He had just arrived at the KwaDukuza municipal offices when he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to hospital where he died on arrival.
When the incident happened, Ntuli was from an event where he introduced the main contractor for the Riverside Bridge that will be built in the area.
Following Ntuli’s sudden death, KwaDukuza Mayor Lindile Nhaca expressed shock at the tragic passing on of Ntuli.
“Death has robbed us of the life of Ntuli was a dedicated and skillful leader of the African National Congress (ANC) with huge experience in politics and local government. Our hearts are heavy, no number of words can express our pain and sorrow," Nhaca said.

She said losing a leader of such a great stature is a blow not only to his family, but the leadership of the ANC, the council and the entire community of KwaDukuza.
"We will remember him as a tireless leader of the people, whose political career took off at a very prime age. He began his political activism at the age of fifteen after joining uMkhonto weSizwe (MK). He received advanced military combat training and political education in the MK led by General Gizenga Mpanza," she said.
Nhaca said Ntuli was among the longest-serving councillors in KwaDukuza with a remarkable track record.
KZN Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Bongi Sithole-Moloi said they were informed that councillor Ntuli died on Wednesday, 29 March after performing duties given to him.
"We wish to convey our deepest condolences to the Ntuli family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May the soul of this humble servant of the people rest in peace," she said.
Ntuli is survived by his wife and children.
