SIMON Sikhosana (37), the man accused of attacking iconic Ndebele artist Dr Esther Mahlangu, briefly appeared in the Mdutjana Magistrates Court in Siyabuswa on Thursday, 14 July for the start of his trial.

But the trial was postponed to 15 August for further investigation.

Magistrate Nikesh Ramkhelawan said the accused will remain in custody.

“The accused docket will be sent to the regional prosecutor for verification and make his input. There is no bail and he will be in custody until the said date,” he said.

Simon is accused of attacking Gogo Esther (87) at her home in Mthambothini near Siyabuswa in Mpumalanga.

He allegedly attacked gogo on 19 March and was arrested on 7 April in Limpopo.

Sikhosana was denied bail by the same court in May.

He is facing charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

His is facing a schedule six case.

Gogo’s grandson, Rabatho Nkosi (46), said all they want is justice to prevail.

“The postponement of the trial is delaying justice for gogo and the family. She will not be happy, but the day will come. All the family wants is justice,” he said.
