A TOXIC relationship characterised by violence ended in death.
This is after a woman stabbed her boyfriend and was arrested, but when she was released on free bail a day later, her boyfriend allegedly stabbed her to death.
Limpopo police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said cops in Hlogotlou have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly killing his 21-year-old girlfriend soon after she was released on Friday, 7 October.
He said this follows an incident that took place in Monsterlus Village outside Sekhukhune, in which the woman assaulted and seriously injured the suspect on Tuesday.
Ledwaba said: “The deceased was arrested on charges of assault with intent with grievous bodily harm after the couple allegedly had an altercation at the suspect’s house, and the woman ended up stabbing the man with a sharp object.
“She was arrested on Thursday and appeared in the Nebo Magistrates Court on Friday, where she was released on free bail,” said Ledwaba.
He said the victim thereafter went to the local tavern and her boyfriend (suspect), whom she had assaulted, arrived at the tavern and dragged her to her house which is next to the tavern.
“Upon arrival, he stabbed her several times, killing her instantly. The suspect was arrested on the scene after police were notified. Police have opened a case of murder,” he said.
Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe has called for harsh consequences against the suspect who shouldn’t have never taken the law into his own hands.
The suspect will appear in the Nebo Magistrates Court on Monday, 10 October facing a charge of murder.
Police investigations continue.
