A man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his lover.

A MAN accused his girlfriend of cheating on him.

He then allegedly attacked her with a broomstick.

The boyfriend was arrested in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni on Tuesday, 12 December and faces charges of assault and malicious damage to property.

According to Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, the incident happened in November 2023.

She said the complainant (32) was relaxing at home when her angry boyfriend allegedly accused her of cheating.

"She tried to escape the impending attack by fleeing, but the angry boyfriend chased her across the yard until she found her way back into the house and locked the door behind her.

"The attacker managed to break down the door, gain access to the house, grab a broomstick and attack the woman. The injured victim somehow managed to free herself and went straight to Daveyton cop shop to open a case," Thepa said.
