DAN Mgiba (30) hustles for a living on a daily basis by making stunning wire cars.

Dan from Thulamahashe near Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, builds cars like the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes-Benz A45 and G63, and turns heads at the roadside. He sells his artwork for R1 500.

“Designing and making cars has always been my dream. But my biggest dream is breaking into the car industry, designing and manufacturing an amazing car named Shlu, after my daughter.”

Dan’s been in the toy car world since he was 10. And a car can take up to a week to design and make.

“I took up this craft in 2020 when I realised I can make toys,” he said. “I design old and new models, and even my own brand,” he said. “I’m convinced that if Mzansi gave me a chance, I could fly the flag high with my skills,” said Dan, who holds a Human Resources level 4 qualification and call centre management certificate.

He also studied technical engineering N3 at the Academy of Business and Computer Studies in Tshwane.
