WHEN they went to sleep on Sunday, 17 September, the lights were off due to load shedding.

So the family was fast asleep when the power returned and when a fire started.

The family from Mandela in Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni could have burnt alive had a crying baby not woken up her mum, who saw the fire and saved the rest of her family.
