COLLABORATION between South African Police Service (SAPS) in Soweto together with Joburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) led to the arrest of two suspects in Mofolo North, Soweto.

The suspects were bust for multiple charges that include hijacking, possession of presumed stolen property, kidnapping and attempted murder on Friday, 05 August 2022.

Police spokeswoman Captain Amanda van Wyk said, “According to a preliminary report, a courier van transporting goods was hijacked in Orlando. The suspects drove off with the driver of the van and his crew member, where after the goods were offloaded in Mofolo.

“Both the driver and his crew member managed to escape and alerted the police. A shootout ensued upon arrival by the police which resulted in one suspect being injured. The stolen property were recovered at the scene.”

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
