TWO Western Cape police officers have found themselves in hot water after a video showing them assaulting a civilian went viral on social media.

The two cops can be seen beating the man with batons while he’s on the ground pleading for help.

However, it is still not known what the man said or did before the video was recorded.

It is alleged that the man had called the police to a house to report his girlfriend, who had apparently went missing.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokeswoman Lizzy Suping said: “Ipid is investigating a case of assault after seeing a video where police were assaulting a civilian in Fish Hoek in the Western Cape.

The office will provide feedback as soon it completes its work.”

In a video, the man can be heard saying “help me” while the officers beat him up.

Another person, possibly the one recording the video, can be heard shouting at the two officers, telling them to leave the man alone.

The woman is heard saying: “You are the police. What the fu#k are you doing?”

The woman further labels the incident as police brutality.
