TWO suspects wanted for murder cases and a string of gang-related crimes were shot dead on Tuesday, 7 February following a shoot-out with cops in Newlands East, KZN.
According to Colonel Robert Netshiunda, police were following up on a positive lead when they spotted four suspects in Newlands East.
Netshiunda said upon realising the presence of the police, the suspects fled into the bushes along Galjoen Road and police gave chase.
“The suspects started firing shots towards the police and a shoot-out ensued. After the shoot-out, two suspects, aged 16 and 35 were found with fatal gunshot wounds,” Netshiunda said in a statement.
He said two unlicensed firearms and two magazines with ammunition were found in the possession of the deceased suspects.
“The search for the other two suspects who evaded arrest is underway,” said Netshiunda.
