THESE thugs thought they could find an easy way to make cash for themselves.
They allegedly stole copper cables, melted the cables and made aluminium pots.
They were happy with their arrangement until cops nabbed them.
Today, four suspects are in jail after they were caught and arrested in their warehouse at KwaMakhutha near Durban on Monday, 22 August.
The suspects, aged between 24 and 46, were charged with tempering with essential infrastructure.
KZN police spokeswoman Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said on 22 August, the Economic Infrastructure Task Team and other role players followed up information regarding a warehouse that was manufacturing aluminium pots at Embuthisweni in KwaMakhutha.
Ngcobo said on arrival they found four men who were manufacturing pots.
“Police enquired about the melted copper they were using to make the pots. They were unable to prove where they got the raw material from and they were arrested,” said Ngcobo.
She said the police seized copper and other tools that were used to manufacture the pots, valued at R450 000.
“The suspects were arrested for possession of stolen goods, tampering with essential infrastructure and for contravening the Immigration Act,” said Ngcobo.
She said they were detained at KwaMakhutha cop shop. They are expected to appear in the Umbumbulu Magistrates Court soon.
