COCKROACH Mdluli, a famous snake catcher from Bushbuckridge Municipality Fire and Rescue team, bravely caught a 3,9 metre-long black mamba at the Mnisi house in Mkhuhlu F outside Hazyview, Mpumalanga, on Monday night, 8 January.
Shocked Percia Mnisi (33) said she was taking a bath when she spotted the deadly creature slithering into cement bags piled up in the house garage at about 5.55pm.
"We ran out shouting for help, but it disappeared in the pile of cement bags at the garage. Realising our lives were in danger from this deadly mamba, we then phoned Cockroach who arrived at 8pm and caught it before it could be a danger to us," she said.
Percia’s sister, Affection Sibiya (28), said on Sunday night, 7 January, they felt cold running down their spine when they spotted a shining creature sticking out its tongue through the door and door frame hole.

She said it quickly disappeared.
"We thought it could be an iguana from the nearby bushes searching for food. But now we can see it was a snake, and our lives were in danger. This snake is very dangerous. So, thank you Cockroach for saving our lives," she said.
Snake catcher Cockroach said they searched for the creature on the pile of cement with caution and eventually got it.
"We managed to find it hidden in the cement, and I grabbed it. We put it into a tin. So, people are extremely warned not to catch snakes as some are venomous and can kill them. Instead, they must just call us. The dangerous black mamba was taken safely to Kruger National Park," he said.
