'Night of sex, cocaine and booze killed Zulu prince!'

THE DEATH of King Goodwill Zwelithini’s son rocked the royal family when he died mysteriously two years ago.

The events of that fateful night were anything but clear. At last, the cause of his death has been confirmed in court.

Lethukuthula Zulu died as a result of a cocaine overdose!

THIS was revealed at the South Gauteng High Court, where the four women arrested in connection with his death appeared for the continuation of their trial.

Under cross-examination, investigating officer Sergeant Mokwena Mojapelo from the Gauteng Provincial Organised Crime was asked when did he find out that the cause of death was drug-related, as per the post mortem.

“I only noticed after a year that the cause of death was related to cocaine,” he said.

On Thursday, 6 October, Mojapelo revealed to the court how he traced and caught Tshegofatso Moremane, Gontse Thloele, Margaret Koaile and Portia Mmola, as well as one man for the murder of Lethukuthula (50) in November 2020 under strange circumstances.

He said he got hold of CCTV footage, which helped a great deal in his investigation.

“In the video from the complex I saw a white Mercedes-Benz and a silver grey VW Polo. When I asked about the Mercedes, I was told it belonged to the victim and the Polo belonged to the suspects,” he said.

He said he saw a black sticker on the driver’s side of the Polo and a tow bar at the back and silver mag wheels. He said while he waited for the photos from their cybercrimes unit, he got results for the fingerprint found on a bowl at the crime scene. The prints belonged to Moremane. He then applied for a warrant for her arrest.

While searching for Moremane’s address in Sunnyside, Tshwane, he noticed a car with identical markings of the car at the crime scene.

“The driver was a man and there were six women in the car. I requested that we go to Pretoria Central Police Station,” he said.

He said a colleague attended to the ladies in the station and he stayed behind and interviewed the driver.

“I told him I was looking for a Polo identical to his because it was seen at a murder and robbery crime scene. The driver told me four of the six ladies were inside the apartment on 6 November 2020,” he said.

Mojapelo said he learnt that one of the women at the station was Moremane, and he arrested her on the spot.

“I told her I was looking for her in connection with the murder that happened in Honeydew,” he said.

The other suspects were linked to the crime after some of the items stolen at the house were found at their homes, but the stolen TV, two cellphones, a Dell laptop and R80 000 were never recovered.

The four women are allegedly part of a syndicate targeting unsuspecting men who are looking for girls at clubs and taverns.

They drug them and steal their valuables from their homes.

The case continues today.
