ACCORDING to Charles Mabaso, deputy chief of the Tshwane City Ambulance Service, several accidents have been reported to the ambulance service since the start of the Easter holidays in which motorists have been killed and seriously injured.

He said three motorists were killed in an accident on the R55 and Lochner Road at Raslow near Centurion at around 00:38 on 29 March, while three other patients suffered critical to serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision.

"The Tshwane Emergency Services Department arrived at the incident, two patients had already been taken to Kalafong Hospital by a private ambulance service. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate some trapped motorists from the other vehicle," he said.

"When the emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident, they found the two drivers still trapped in the wreckage of the bakkie. They also had to use the Jaws of Life to free the seriously injured patients," he said.
