THE North Gauteng High Court has sentenced four men to a 30-year jail term each for cash-in-transit robbery.
They hit a cash van on 7 January 2020, as it was travelling on the N4 towards Bronkhorstspruit.
According to cops, the group of armed men rammed onto the van, veering it off the road.
“The gunmen forced security guards out of the vehicle and robbed them of their service firearms. They placed explosives onto the vehicle and detonated it. Then they took the cash and fled the scene,” said Warrant Officer Bonnie Nxumalo.
The case was reported to the police, prompting an investigation by the Germiston-based Hawks’ serious organised crime investigation.
