When the suspect appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, 8 June, Judge Hleziphi Mkhasibe said the matter was postponed to Wednesday, 28 June, to await the results of the investigation and preparation for trial.
In 2022, the suspect had denied in court that he raped the teenager, arguing that the evidence against him was "weak".
In his affidavit, he alleged that there was no evidence linking him to the crime.
He alleged that he was not arrested during the commission of the crime, nor was he at the scene. He denied raping the minor and said that no DNA evidence linked him to the crime.
On the other hand, he argued that there were conflicting versions of the story. One said that he took her on a date and raped her, and the other said that he raped her where they lived in the same yard. He denied that both instances took place.
Earlier, the victim's father told Daily Sun that the child has since moved to Rustenburg in North West after she was bullied at school when her classmates found out she was allegedly raped.
