Decomposed body found floating at Injaka Dam!

A BADLY decomposed body of an unidentified man was recovered by the Bushbuckridge Municipality Fire and Rescue Team from the Injaka Dam in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, on Friday, 28 April.

The body was partially floating above the water after being spotted by a group of people who had gone out to collect firewood and alerted the police, who called in the rescue team.

Selby Chauke, Bushbuckridge Municipality Fire and Rescue official, said: "Upon arrival at the scene, we found the badly decomposed body of the unknown man with legs partly floating above the water still wearing blue dungarees or delela jeans.

"His head and other upper part of his body were stuffed in a bag (sack) sunk down with another bag stuffed with sands apparently weighing his body down the water. It appears the body was thrown there some days ago."

Police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala confirmed the discovery of a body found in the deadly Injaka Dam.

"A human body, which was in a decomposing state was found near Injaka Dam in Bushbuckridge Friday, 28 April. The body which was covered with a sack was spotted by a community member who went to fetch firewood around 11am on Friday, 28 April," he said.

"The person's identity is unknown and police call on community members who might have their loved ones missing to contact Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Mashego on 082 469 1298 to arrange for the identification of the deceased," he said. 

Mpumalanga police commissioner Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela has, on several occasions, warned community members to avoid the deadly Injaka Dam and Injaka Forest due to reports of rapes, robberies and murders in recent days.
