FOLLOWING an incident last week where Orlando Pirates midfielder Vincent “Shuffle” Pule was kidnapped and hijacked in Joburg, the police have been searching for his vehicle.
Now, the search is finally over after the police recovered his black BMW 1 series in a house in Riverlea on Friday, 12 August.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesman Xolani Fihla said two men, aged 32 and 40, were arrested for possession of a hijacked car and unlicensed ammunition.
He said since Pule’s hijacking on Sunday, 31 July, a team, comprising JMPD K9, SAPS Joburg Central trio detectives and Mondeor trio tracing, had worked tirelessly to recover the car.
“The team followed up on information that led them to a house in Riverlea, where two men were found. The sought vehicle, one live AK-47 round, a tracking device and four sets of registration plates were recovered,” he said.
Fihla added that upon recovery, the car registration plates and licence disc were changed, and it was fitted with false ones.
He said officers verified it using its vehicle identification and engine numbers.
“The two suspects, linked to several hijackings in Joburg, were arrested and detained at the Langlaagte Police Station. The car was seized and booked in at the SAPS Aeroton pound,” he added.
