SEVERAL areas in Durban are in the dark as they are without electricity following a massive explosion.
This is because has just been an explosion earlier this evening at a major substation, which is a key supply point to the city from Eskom.
This substation is stationed at Klaarwater, Durban.
Several areas around the city are in the dark as they've been affected.
A resident from Klaar water said with that electricity outage the water pumps will also not function, which means they will not have water the next day.

"We hope this gets attended to urgently so that things don't go out of hand. At this point we don't know what could have been the cause of the explosion," said the residents.
The eThekwini Municipality ward councillor Sakhile Mngadi said among the several areas that are out are Clare estate, Reservoir Hills, Pinetown, Westville, Shallcross, Malvern, Cato Manor and Asherville.
"Once again please ensure appliances like pool pumps, geysers, etc are switched off to prevent surge trips," said councillor Mngadi.

The eThekwini Municipality spokesman Msawakhe Mayisela said they are aware of a trip out at their Klaarwater Major substation, which is a key supply point to the city from Eskom.
"Many areas around the city are affected by this power outage. Our technicians are currently investigating. We will update the public on the progress," he said.
