ANGRY Braamfischerville residents in Soweto are gatvol with the senseless killings happening in their area.
On Monday, 2 October, Braamfischerville residents used rubble rocks and burning tyres to block the streets, demanding answers from Dobsonville Police Station.
This was after two people were killed, and one is fighting for his life in hospital.
It's reported that criminals stormed into a tavern last Saturday night demanding cash, alcohol and valuables as usual.
For the past months, the community of Braamfischerville has been living in fear after small business owners were attacked by violent intruders.
The modus operandi has been an ambush by armed men who demand money and other valuables.
The criminals are so brazen that it is estimated that 12 attacks have happened since June, and more than 10 people were killed.
According to a tavern owner, Nonhlanhla Pecudance Chuene-Gasa, the criminals were merciless, even threatening to shoot a crying child.

She told Daily Sun that the criminals shot her husband, who is currently fighting for his life in hospital and his friend, who lost his life.
Nonhlanhla said the criminals then proceeded to a front apposite shebeen where the owner and his customer were shot and killed.
The community resorted to a protest and demanded to be addressed by SAPS leadership, who came late in the evening on Monday and promised the community that they would increase the number of police patrols in the area.
Community leader Noah Keswa said that they need police visibility.
"After the Saturday shooting incident, the same incident happened in another house. When I arrived at the first scene, I saw a guy lying dead on the ground while one person was rushed into a hospital. When I went to the second scene, I saw a woman and a man lying dead on the ground,” said Noah.
Ward Councillor Mthuthuzeli Bolani said that based on the issue of crime, during the state of the city address by the mayor, he mentioned the importance of a police station in Braamfischerville.
"This is a fully fetched community which needs a police station as a matter of urgency,” Bolani said.
Sanco chairman Tshepo Kgwadi told Daily Sun that there's an area in Braamfischerville extension 8 that has become a hotspot.
"We need intervention and this place to be prioritised before things get out of hand," Kgwadi said.
He said that most of these crimes happen a lot during load shedding.
The station commander, Brigadier Lindiwe Magudulela, told the angry community that he would escalate the issue of having their police station on the community’s behalf.
