THE murder trial of North West billionaire businessman Wandile Bozwana has been postponed to Tuesday, 12 April.
This after Judge Papi Mosopa refused to give a longer postponement of the case.
Vusi “Khekhe” Mathibela and his co-accused appeared in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Monday, 11 April for the continuation of the trial.
Mathibela, Matamela Robert Mutapa, Bonginkosi Paul Khumalo and Sipho Patrick Hudla are all facing charges of murder and attempted murder.
This after Bozwana and his business partner, Mpho Baloyi, were gunned down at the Garsfontein off-ramp on the N1 highway in October 2015.
Bozwana succumbed to his injuries soon after he arrived in hospital, but Baloyi fortunately survived.
The defence lawyer, Advocate Anneline van den Heever, requested a postponement, citing that she still needed to go through all the statements brought forward by the state.
But the state prosecutor opposed the case standing down any further and stated that it was old and needed to be finalised.
Previously, Mathibela and his co-accused had denied any knowledge of the killing.
The four earlier asked the court for their release, arguing that there was no evidence to pin the charges of murder and attempted murder on them.
