FREE STATE police have arrested a man on charges of murder after he allegedly hit his friend to death with an iron rod.
It’s alleged that on Monday, 1 August, cops were called about a murder in Maboshwane Village, QwaQwa.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said cops went to the house where the body of the man was lying on the floor, and he was later identified as Sipho Mosia.
It’s alleged that the two friends arrived home at about 5am from a social event and they both sat near the coal stove while drinking beers.
“The two got into an argument and ended up fighting. The suspect allegedly hit the victim with an iron rod on the head. The suspect was later arrested at Phuthaditjhaba Magistrates Court, while attending another matter where he is an accused,” Mophiring said.
He is expected to appear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 3 August facing a charge of murder.
